Puerto Galera Concludes Dive Spotters’ Training and Competition Management Workshop for the Puerto Galera Underwater Shootout PUERTO GALERA, ORIENTAL MINDORO — August 26, 2026 — The Municipality of Puerto Galera successfully concluded its Underwater Shootout Spotters’ Training today at La Laguna Villas, marking another important milestone in preparations for the first Puerto Galera Underwater Shootout scheduled for September 16–20, 2026. Certificates were awarded to the trained local spotters in recognition of their participation and completion of the training. Conducted under the supervision of representatives from the Department of Tourism (DOT), the training equipped the spotters with essential knowledge and guidance to assist underwater photographers and divers during the upcoming competition. Invited speakers Ram Yoro and Oliver Ang also shared their expertise and insights relevant to underwater photography, diving, and the responsibilities of spotters in supporting the successful conduct of the event. The activity forms part of the continuing preparations of the Municipality of Puerto Galera to welcome underwater photographers, divers, tourism stakeholders, and other participants who will showcase the destination’s rich marine biodiversity and world-class diving environment. The initiative received the full support of Mayor Robinhood D. Ylagan and Vice Mayor Rocky D. Ilagan, further strengthening the municipality’s efforts to develop and promote diving tourism. With the successful completion of the training and the certification of its local spotters, Puerto Galera is now better prepared to host the September competition.
