DOT Director for Market Development Explores Tourism Product Diversification, Strengthens Korean Market Ties in Puerto Galera PUERTO GALERA, ORIENTAL MINDORO | August 26, 2026 — Department of Tourism Director for Market Development Dr. Zeny C. Pallugna visited Puerto Galera for an exploratory activity focused on tourism product diversification and the development of new tourism experiences. Together with DOT representatives and LGU officials, Dr. Pallugna and Vice Mayor Rocky D. Ilagan visited the Medio Island Trails to explore its potential as part of Puerto Galera’s growing tourism offerings. The activity was supported by Mayor Robinhood D. Ylagan and the Municipal Government of Puerto Galera. The visit also became an opportunity to strengthen Puerto Galera’s connection with the Korean tourism market. Dr. Pallugna met with Korean tourism stakeholders in Sabang for a consultative discussion on how the government and the local tourism industry can work together to attract more Korean visitors to the country, particularly to Puerto Galera. The discussion also focused on the needs of Korean stakeholders and the kind of government support that can help them promote Puerto Galera more effectively. With Korean travelers and divers making up a significant part of the municipality’s international tourism market, strengthening this partnership is seen as an important step toward sustaining and growing Korean arrivals.
