Department of Tourism Representatives Join Puerto Galera Municipal Tourism Office in Exploratory Product Diversification Activity Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro — August 25, 2026 Representatives from the Department of Tourism (DOT) joined the Municipal Tourism Office of Puerto Galera today in an exploratory product diversification activity aimed at identifying key tourism destinations and potential tourism products that can be further improved, developed, and promoted as part of the municipality’s efforts to diversify its tourism offerings. Municipal Mayor Robinhood D. Ylagan and Vice Mayor Rocky D. Ilagan, expressed their support for initiatives that strengthen the municipality’s tourism sector. Department of Tourism's Director for Market Development, Dr. Zeny C. Pallugna was also present to ensure that the activity was aligned with the department’s market development priorities and to provide guidance on the potential positioning, packaging, and promotion of emerging tourism products. Through the activity, the Municipal Tourism Office, headed by Municipal Tourism Operations Officer, Mary Christine C. Ibon and DOT representatives sought to identify destinations and tourism assets that could be enhanced into more diverse and sustainable tourism experiences. These may include nature-based, cultural, heritage, adventure, community-based, wellness, and other emerging tourism products that can complement Puerto Galera’s established tourism attractions. The exploratory activity forms part of the municipality’s continuing efforts to strengthen its tourism portfolio by going beyond its traditional offerings and developing experiences that encourage visitors to discover more of Puerto Galera’s communities, natural landscapes, cultural heritage, and local attractions. The collaboration with the DOT is also expected to provide valuable insights and technical perspectives in determining which destinations have the greatest potential for further development, investment, promotion, and integration into future tourism circuits and packages.
